Saying goodbye to a beloved family member is never easy, but here at Seneca Animal Clinic, we strive to make sure your dog is surrounded by love until the very end.
What is pet euthanasia and how do I know when it’s the right time?
Euthanasia, is the humane method of ending a dog’s life. Your veterinarian is here to discuss your pet’s quality of life in order to allow you to determine when it is the right time for you and your pet. If your pet is unable to enjoy the things in life that used to make him or her happy, then please give us a call at Seneca Animal Clinic.
Can I say goodbye to my pet in the comfort of our home?
At Seneca Animal Clinic, we are not licensed to perform house calls at this time but we can recommend a mobile veterinarian should you prefer to say goodbye at home.
How is the euthanasia drug administered?
The euthanasia solution is administered intravenously as an injection. Your veterinarian may choose to place a catheter or butterfly needle to allow for an easier injection.
Does your clinic provide bereavement counselling?
Our veterinarians are always here to talk but if they feel you need to speak with a bereavement councilor they can help you make the connection you need.
As your pet gets older, they need to get regular check-ups with your vet to make sure they are fit and healthy. Senior pets are more likely to have health issues, and monitoring with routine check-ups and bloodwork is a perfect way of keeping ahead of any illness.
With recent changes to restrictions on businesses, we are pleased to advise that effective May 15, 2020 some restrictions on veterinary practices have been lifted. Based on these changes, below are some important updates to our operating policies.
1. WE CAN NOW SEE ALL CASES BY APPOINTMENT ONLY
This includes vaccines, wellness exams, blood work, heartworm testing, spays and neuters, dental services, and more!
2. SAFETY MEASURES TO KEEP EVERYONE SAFE
Continue our "closed waiting room" policy to protect our clients and staff. When you arrive, please remain outside the hospital and use your cell phone to call us. We will take a history of your pet's health and discuss any concerns. A staff member will then meet you outside to bring your pet into the hospital for an examination. The Veterinarian will call you to discuss the recommended treatment plan. After your appointment, a staff member will return your pet to you outside, and take care of any needed medications and payment.
Continue the use of credit cards as the preferred payment method.
Continue with curbside pickup of food and medication (unless you have used our online store and are having your order delivered directly to your home). To place an order through our online store, visit our website and click on "Online Store".
3. ONLINE CONSULTATIONS ARE AVAILABLE
If you wish to connect with a veterinarian via message, phone or video, visit our website and follow the "Online Consultation" link.
